User Experiences With The Magewell Ultra Stream HDMI

One church wrote this…

We bought the Ultra Stream for our little church to be able to live stream our services, as our older members were avoiding the risk of infection from Covid 19 by remaining at home.

We’ve been using it for eight weeks to stream at 1080/25fps at 4 Mbps. By simply pushing the green button on the case, it starts a live transmission to our Youtube account.

We tried streaming using a PC first, but there was too much lag, it crashed now and again, and it would have required a full-time volunteer to run the stream.

The Ultra Stream proved to be the perfect answer. It’s extremely low-cost, straightforward to use, and free of lag. A single video camera with an HDMI connection has been permanently mounted on a permanent basis.

I’d like to add that the manual claims that if you use a line input to the microphone jack, the volume will be extremely loud, and we haven’t found this to be true.

We’re using a mixer board to drive the Ultra Stream, which means we can control everything at once. The volume settings on the mixer board and the Ultra Stream are set around the midpoint, and audiometer readings stay in the green.

After we’ve found the right levels on our mixer board, we don’t have to make any adjustments on the run for the Ultra Stream because the audio technician adjusts the volume in the sanctuary and those settings are also correct for the Ultra Stream.
